‘The decision has been made’: Tottenham target Memphis Depay will definitely move in January - Romano

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte may have hoped to already have some new faces in his squad this month.

Halfway through the January transfer window, there have been no incomings or outgoings from north London.

A report from Fabrizio Romano has provided a potentially exciting update on one Spurs target.

Conte has not hidden the fact that he wants to add some attacking fire power to his squad.

The injuries Dejan Kulusevski has suffered this season have seriously affected their form.

Thankfully, there’s a chance the young Swede is fit to face Arsenal in the North London derby later today.

One player who has been linked with Tottenham during the January transfer window is Memphis Depay.

The Dutch star has been out of favour at Barcelona this season, playing just two league games this campaign.

Romano now believes that Depay will definitely move in January.

However, there’s already another top team trying to sign him from the Camp Nou.

Depay will move in January

Speaking on Twitter, Romano said: “Understand Memphis Depay will leave Barcelona in January transfer window.

“The decision has been made, he’ll try new experience if all goes to plan.

“Negotiations with Atlético Madrid are ongoing.

“Memphis, open to join Atléti — still not agreed between all parties.”

The ‘world-class’ attacker would be a very exciting addition to the Tottenham squad.

His versatility would make him a valuable asset, and although his time at Manchester United wasn’t brilliant, he does know the Premier League.

Nothing appears to be agreed with Atletico Madrid, and so there’s still a chance for Tottenham to hijack a move.

Depay would likely demand very high wages, which isn’t something Tottenham normally offers new signings.

However, with Barcelona keen to move Depay on, any transfer fee would likely be very reasonable.

It’s up to Tottenham now whether they act knowing Depay will move in January.

He’s not the same creative player as Kulusevski, but would offer brilliant cover for the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
