Conor Gallagher has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham as of late.
The Chelsea midfielder is said to be a target for Spurs in the January transfer window, and now that the window is officially open, we’re going to start hearing more and more rumours.
Speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast, Chris Sutton has been discussing the idea of Gallagher heading to north London, and he was taken aback by this rumour, claiming that it would be truly staggering if Tottenham managed to pinch one of Chelsea’s best players.

Sutton reacts to Gallagher to Spurs rumours
The pundit shared his verdict on this potential move.
“That is remarkable that we’re talking about one of Chelsea’s best players moving to Tottenham in a January transfer window. It shouldn’t work that way around really, when was the last time something like this happened? I honestly can’t think of it. It’s staggering to think of the Chelsea captain moving to Tottenham,” Sutton said.
Remarkable
As Sutton says, this would be a remarkable move.
Tottenham really don’t do deals like this.
Think about it, when was the last time Spurs signed a top player from one of their so-called big six rivals? You’re probably looking all the way back to 1997 when they signed David Ginola and Les Ferdinand from Newcastle who were top contenders at the time, but, even then, the landscape of the Premier League was very different at that point.
Tottenham don’t do these kinds of deals, but with Spurs looking to be more ambitious than ever and Chelsea falling from the spotlight so much over the past 18 months, the idea of Spurs snatching one of Chelsea’s best players doesn’t sound so ridiculous now.
Whether or not Gallagher makes this move remains to be seen, but, if he does, it may go down as a landmark switch.
