TalkSPORT pundit shuts down suggestion that Arsenal will sell Kieran Tierney
The 25-year-old Scotsman, branded as ‘absolutely brilliant’ by Alan McInally, is a fan favourite at the Emirates. He joined Arsenal from Celtic in the summer of 2019, and whenever he has played, he has been brilliant for the club.
However, injuries have been a big issue for Tierney since his move to North London three years ago.
The left-back has missed a staggering 293 days of action due to injuries since he joined the Gunners. He returned to action in July, but he only played 30 minutes of football then, and he hasn’t featured since.
Jamie O’Hara says Arsenal will never sell Kieran Tierney
On talkSPORT Edge this week, the host put a number of Arsenal players’ names in front of O’Hara, and the pundit had to tell if he’d keep or sell them this season.
When Tierney’s name came up, a shocked O’Hara responded: “What are you talking about? Why are we having the conversation of keep or sell Kieran Tierney?”
“He’s injury prone, isn’t he?” replied the host.
An irritated O’Hara then claimed: “Oh shut up! He’s a future club captain. Tierney is everything what Arsenal are about. They’ll never get rid of him, he’s a top player!”
When Kieran Tierney is fit, there are very few left-backs in the country who are on his level.
The Scotsman is fantastic on the ball, his crossing is up there with the best, and his defending isn’t too bad either. He has been an excellent player for Arsenal when available, and Arsenal fans can’t wait to have him back.
Mikel Arteta, however, now has a top-quality option at left-back in case Tierney is unavailable. Arsenal went and signed Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, and the Ukrainian is more than just a solid backup for the Scotland international.
It will be interesting to see who Arteta will go with when both players are fit. O’Hara’s comments suggest it will definitely be Tierney.
