TalkSPORT pundit claims 60k-a-week Liverpool player is so underrated

Pundit Jason Cundy has been talking about how underrated Liverpool midfielder James Milner is.

Cundy was discussing with Jamie O’Hara on TalkSPORT whether the £60,000-a-week veteran is a Premier League legend.

James Milner has made the third most appearances in Premier League history.

Only Gareth Barry and Ryan Giggs have surpassed his 615 appearances.

However, he still has time to overtake that pair before the end of his career.

Since signing for Liverpool in 2015 from Manchester City, Milner has played a huge role at the club.

His versatility has made him a valuable asset to Jurgen Klopp, and he’s a real leader on and off the pitch.

Milner going to Anfield on a free transfer will be regarded as one of the best value-for-money transfers in the club’s history.

Cundy has now stated that Milner is criminally underrated and that the Liverpool player doesn’t get enough credit.

O’Hara disagrees and believes he gets as much respect as he deserves for his epic career.

Liverpool star Milner really underrated – Cundy

Asked by O’Hara is thinks Milner is underrated, Cundy said: “Yes. He’s highly regarded in the game, but if you had to poll 100,000 Premier League football fans, who has been one of the most consistent footballers, I don’t whether he’d be in it.

O’Hara followed up by asking: “If you’re going to pick three Premier League XIs of all time, is he going to be in it?”

Cundy: “Yes. [Playing him] in midfield, ahead of Gareth Barry. Is he a Premier League legend?

“The answer to that question is emphatically yes. He is a Premier League legend.”

It’s hard to say Milner is underrated given how long he’s been playing at the highest level, and that looks set to continue away from Liverpool next season.

He’s been closely linked with a move to Brighton, who are arguably the league’s best recruiters.

They have a focus on bringing in undiscovered young talent from around the world.

The likes of Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson and Moises Caicedo have shone under Roberto De Zerbi this season.

For Brighton to want a 37-year-old Milner next season suggests they value his experience incredibly highly.

The story of James Milner in the Premier League is set to have one more chapter in an impressive career.
