Chris Sutton has suggested on Twitter that he is baffled that Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has missed out on being nominated for the Premiership Player of the Year, insisting that the Tottenham Hotspur loanee has been the best player in the league by a mile.
Carter-Vickers has enjoyed a game-changing spell in Scotland. It had appeared that his career was in danger of stagnating somewhat after a number of loans in the Championship.

It was Ange Postecoglou’s men who took the Spurs man in the summer. And the decision has proved to be an absolute masterstroke.
He has missed just one league game since moving to Parkhead. And he has formed an outstanding partnership with Carl Starfelt at the heart of the Celtic defence.

His form has caught the eye of other Premier League sides. Reports have claimed that the likes of Leicester and Wolves also want the USMNT international.
However, it would appear that his form has not quite been good enough for some this year. The nominees for the Premiership Player of the Year have been announced. And Carter-Vickers is not on the four-man list. Celtic teammates Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic have been included.
Both have been superb this term. But Sutton has taken to Twitter to express his sheer disbelief that the Tottenham loanee has missed out on a nomination.
Celtic probably will not mind Carter-Vickers going under radar while on loan from Tottenham
Reports have claimed that Celtic plan to make Carter-Vickers’ move permanent. But if the door is open for rivals to swoop in, the Hoops may not mind Carter-Vickers’ form going under the radar.
It may be difficult to compete with Premier League sides for the centre-back. So they may prefer that he avoids collecting too many accolades before he potentially joins Celtic permanently.
