Sunderland have already made many new signings this summer, and there are plans to add more before the transfer deadline on Monday.
The Black Cats have spent around £150m on players after winning promotion to the Premier League last season, as Kyril Louis-Dreyfus aims to give Regis Le Bris the best chance of keeping Sunderland up.
- Granit Xhaka – £17m
- Habib Diarra – £30m
- Simon Adingra – £21m
- Enzo Le Fee – £20m
- Chemsdine Talbi – £19.5m
- Noah Sadiki – £15m
- Reinildo – free transfer
- Arthur Masuaku – free transfer
- Robin Roefs – £11.5m
- Nordi Mukiele – £12m
- Omar Alderete – £10m
Now – according to Gazzetta dello Sport – Sunderland are looking to sign Lloyd Kelly just months after his departure from bitter rivals Newcastle.
Sunderland make approach for Lloyd Kelly
The Italian news outlet believe Sunderland and Crystal Palace have both opened talks with Juventus over a deal for the centre-back.
Crystal Palace could lose Marc Guehi in the final days of the transfer window, hence why the south Londoners are hunting for a new defender.
Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Juventus are open to offloading Kelly – who arrived on loan from Newcastle in February with a £20m obligation to buy, which was paid in June.
It is said that Juventus have asked PSG about Lucas Beraldo during discussions over Randal Kolo Muani, so there is seemingly a willingness to offload the Sunderland and Crystal Palace target if a replacement can be found.

Kelly, who has been called a Rolls Royce of a footballer, made 11 starts in Serie A last season to eventually help Juventus finish fourth.
The Juventus No.6 also played 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over Parma on Sunday to kickstart the new campaign in perfect fashion.
Sunderland could embarrass Newcastle if Lloyd Kelly proves to be a success
If this deal materialises and the 26-year-old becomes a Premier League star on Wearside, it could end up being a bad look for Newcastle.
The Magpies handed Kelly – who Tottenham considered signing – just four Premier League starts during his seven months on Tyneside, not exactly giving the man born in Bristol a proper chance to shine.
Of course, a £20m sale was good business considering Newcastle signed him for free in June 2024, although it would surely sting if Eddie Howe sees a player he sold shine for a direct rival.
