Liverpool can boast some of the finest young talents in football.

The electric Rio Ngumoha is already making a name for himself at Anfield at the age of just 17 – becoming the youngest goalscorer in Liverpool history with his late winner away to Newcastle.

Arne Slot also has Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike at his disposal – aged just 22 and 23 respectively.

There is another precocious talent who wants to join the aforementioned stars at Liverpool in Jacob Ambæk – who has now been recognised by the Guardian.

Liverpool hopeful Jacob Ambæk named as one of the best young talents in the world

The Denmark U19 international is a huge admirer of Liverpool, telling Tipsbladet back in October 2024: “I dream about making my debut for Brondby’s first team, and in the somewhat longer term I dream of Real Madrid or Liverpool and the national team.”

Now, Ambæk has received a mention in the Guardian’s prestigious Next Generation list – a yearly feature pinpointing the 60 greatest wonderkids across the planet.

The 17-year-old is described as a “physically robust yet technically refined” striker in the report, who also “boasts a superb first touch and great mobility” when leading the line.

Ambæk scored 14 goals in 24 appearances for the Brondby U19 side, and can boast one goal in ten games for the senior team so far.

Steve Cooper can tell Jacob Ambæk all about Liverpool

Coincidentally, Steve Cooper – previously in charge of the Liverpool Academy – is now managing Brondby.

The Welshman worked closely with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Trent Alexander-Arnold on Merseyside, also helping the England U17 side win the World Cup as further proof of his effectiveness when working with young talent.

Therefore, Cooper certainly has the tools to help Ambæk fulfil his potential, and can also offer the teenager plenty of information when it comes to his dream club Liverpool having previously worked at Melwood – as it was known before the AXA Training Centre was built.
