Manchester United are finding it difficult to add to the signing of Matheus Cunha.
Talks are still ongoing with Brentford over a deal for Bryan Mbeumo – who made it clear he wanted a move to Old Trafford at the start of June.
The Bees want a guaranteed £60m for the Cameroon international, but Manchester United are yet to reach that despite making two bids, the second of which was worth £55m upfront and £7.5m in bonuses.
Manchester United are also keen to sign Moise Kean from Fiorentina – but a problem has now emerged.
Fiorentina willing to offer highest salary since 2020 to keep Moise Kean
Gazzetta dello Sport now state that Fiorentina are willing to offer the Italy international €4m-a-year (£3.4m) to reject interest from Manchester United and stay in Florence.
Kean – who Newcastle also like – has impressed those at Old Trafford after scoring 25 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions last season.
The Italian currently earns around €2.8m (£2.4m) annually at Fiorentina, so it would represent a significant financial commitment from the Serie A side to bump that up to €4m (£3.4m) – Gazzetta dello Sport say it would actually be the highest salary offered in Florence since Franck Ribery in 2020, who earned €5.1m (£4.4m).
Kean – who has been likened to Edinson Cavani, a striker Manchester United fans know well after he bagged 19 goals in 59 games for the Red Devils – has a €52m (£45m) release clause active in his contract, although it expires on July 15th.
Manchester United have Moise Kean alternatives
Should Kean – once humiliated at Old Trafford – accept the offer from Fiorentina and reject Manchester United, there are others for the Red Devils to pursue.
Manchester United like Benjamin Sesko, and could turn to the Slovenia international – there was also interest in Viktor Gyokeres, but the Sweden international is nearing a move to Arsenal.
Furthermore, Manchester United have made contact with Dominic Calvert-Lewin after the England international left Everton, but Newcastle are also considering the free transfer opportunity.
Ultimately, the situation involving Kean should not drag on much longer – if no movement has occurred before the release clause expires on July 15th, it would be safe to assume he has opted to stay in Florence.
