Liverpool have a number of talented young players on their books and one of their top starlets is now being pursued by Stoke City.

The Reds are having a quiet transfer window but Arne Slot is expected to get to work on incomings and outgoings in the coming weeks.

The Dutch manager has had time to assess his squad now and it looks like he is ready to not only ask for new players, but sanction exits too.

Of course, a lot of those exits will be younger players who need experience.

And according to The Times’ Paul Joyce, young forward Lewis Koumas is the man expected to be on his way next.

Stoke want to take Lewis Koumas from Liverpool

Taking to X to provide an update on the situation with Koumas, Joyce has said that a new deal is being lined up for the teenager before a loan is sorted.

And it’s Stoke City who want to take him.

Koumas impressed Jurgen Klopp and a loan is ideal

Liverpool have had a lot of success with younger players in recent times and it’s no surprise to see that Arne Slot wants to let some out on loan.

For Lewis Koumas, a move to the Championship is a huge step for him and a chance to really test himself.

Of course, Koumas is highly-rated at Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp had high praise for him last summer.

Koumas, very early but physically already there, has all the things you need as a kid to become a real player – the speed, the technique and all that stuff,” Klopp said at the time.

Clearly, then, the youngster is a talent who Liverpool want to preserve and develop.

A move to Stoke, then, could be ideal and the new contract at Anfield is simply the icing on the cake really.
