Steve Nicol says Sofyan Amrabat is better than every Liverpool midfielder
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to sign Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat, and Steve Nicol believes he will instantly improve their midfield.
The 26-year-old Moroccan had a phenomenal World Cup in Qatar, playing a massive part in helping his country reach the semi-final of the competition earlier this month.
He’s now a wanted man, and Liverpool are reportedly really keen.
Steve Nicol says Sofyan Amrabat is better than every Liverpool midfielder
It’s no secret at all at this point that Liverpool are looking for a new central midfielder.
The Reds were heavily criticised for most of the summer transfer window for not signing a new man in the middle of the park. Jurgen Klopp then brought in Arthur Melo on loan in the end, but the Brazilian has barely played because of his injury.
Now, with the January transfer window just around the corner, the Reds boss is once again being urged to sign a new midfielder, and reports have revealed that Amrabat is on Klopp’s wish list.
Nicol believes the Moroccan is better than every single midfielder at Liverpool.
He said on ESPN FC: “You look at Liverpool what they have available in the middle of the park, he (Amrabat) is head and shoulders above what they’ve got.
“Look at Naby Keita, he’s never going to do it at Liverpool now. What else have we got? We’ve got the Ox, James Milner – I mean, come on!”
TBR View:
Liverpool have had a terrible start to the new season, having won just six of their first 14 Premier League games.
Many feel the biggest issue with Klopp’s side this campaign has been their midfield, which is probably why they have been linked with a move to sign about five of them in recent weeks.
It’s no secret at this point that Jude Bellingham is their priority target, but Amrabat is a really good player too, and he could prove to be a very smart signing if they can bring him in.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Amrabat – he certainly is a wanted man.
