Report: Liverpool bid for 'absolutely brilliant' player is about to come in, he's been lined up for weeks now

Liverpool are about to firm up their interest in Morocco World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat with an incoming bid.

That is according to Moroccan outlet Lions de Atlas, who add that Chelsea have recently entered the race for the midfielder.

They report Liverpool had a head start in the chase as Jurgen Klopp met the player and his agents before the tournament started.

And they have now made it clear they are about to bid in the region of 45 million euros (£39 million) for the midfield dynamo.

Liverpool ready to bid for Amrabat

They say that offer is close to what Fiorentina want for their midfielder as they look to more than double their money if they do sell.

But it remains to be seen whether they take an early bid or try and start and auction between interested clubs when the January window opens.

Liverpool have a habit of swiftly concluding deals once they firm up their interest and it remains to be seen if they can do the same here.

The ‘absolutely brilliant’ Amrabat got so many plaudits during the World Cup but it is clear that Liverpool’s interest pre-dates the tournament.

It might just be that his exploits in Qatar brought Amrabat to the consciousness of more football fans but it seems elite clubs knew what he was all about anyway.

He looks a perfect fit for Klopp’s all-action style, although he may need to adjust to playing in a team which has more of the ball than Morocco tended to during the World Cup.
