The January transfer window is just around the corner, and the rumour mill is starting to turn.
Indeed, transfer season is almost here, and Liverpool are one team who could be busy this January.
The Reds didn’t spend much money at all in the summer, making just two major signings.

| Federico Chiesa | Juventus | £10m |
| Giorgi Mamardashvili | Valencia | £35m |
Liverpool still have money to spend after their failed £111m bid for Moises Caicedo in 2023, and they’re being linked with some big names in January.
Martin Zubimendi is still a Liverpool target, while Aurelien Tchouameni has been linked to Liverpool.
Liverpool are also looking at Christian Pulisic according to reports, and speaking on ESPN, Steve Nicol has been discussing this potential move.

Steve Nicol discusses Christian Pulisic to Liverpool
Nicol shared his verdict on this potential transfer.
The pundit says that he thinks signing Pulisic would be a serious gamble, especially off the back of his spell at Chelsea.
AC Milan apparently want £50m for Pulisic.
“I think it is a bit 50/50. Yeah. What he’s done in Italy, if you took away what happened at Chelsea I’d be much more positive about it, but the fact that he didn’t cut it at Chelsea makes it a wee bit of a gamble. If you’re Liverpool you don’t need to be gambling, especially as you have enough players to cover you going forwards. I’m really 50/50 on it,” Nicol said.
Christian Pulisic stats at Chelsea
Nicol says he has reservations about Pulisic due to his time at Chelsea, and there’s good reason for that.
Indeed, Pulisic wasn’t doing anything special during his time in the Premier League with Chelsea, and his record reflects that.

| Games | 145 |
| Goals | 26 |
| Assists | 19 |
Liverpool have so many quality attackers at the moment, and bringing in a player with this sort of track record in English football really isn’t going to move the dial.
Yes, depth is important, but Liverpool have high hopes for Ben Doak, and perhaps they’d be better off giving him a shot rather than splashing a large sum on a player like Pulisic.
As Nicol says, the signing of Pulisic would be a serious gamble, especially at such a hefty price.
Liverpool already have better attacking options, and they don’t necessarily need Pulisic to reach the next level.
