Tottenham Hotspur have done very well in the market for up-and-coming prospects in recent years.
Spurs have signed a number of top talents that have gone on to become established first-team stars.
For instance, Pape Matar Sarr was such a coup for Tottenham that the club reportedly received messages of congratulations from rival football chiefs.
“I know for a fact that when Tottenham signed him they had other heads of recruitment at other clubs ringing them up saying ‘wow, you did well to get Sarr, he’s someone we wanted for a while’,” Jack Pitt-Brooke told the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel in 2022.
Destiny Udogie is another player that has burst onto the scene at Spurs after they signed him seemingly under the radar.
When Tottenham signed Udogie from Udinese back in 2022, many footballing figures including Fabrizio Romano were tipping him for stardom.

The 21-year-old stayed put in Udine for the season to help continue his development, and after his loan ended, he arrived at Hotspur Way last summer.
Udogie has gone from strength to strength at Tottenham, becoming indispensable in Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI. He has made 27 appearances this season.
Clinton Morrison is one pundit who has spoken highly of Udogie, calling him “the best left-back in the Premier League this season” and deeming his recovery speed “ridiculous” back in January.
And now, ESPN has ranked the Spurs man among the best young players in world football, listing him at number 21, higher than Brighton’s Evan Ferguson and Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo.
What have ESPN said about Tottenham star Destiny Udogie?
ESPN wrote: ‘Despite being tall for a full-back (6-foot-2), Udogie’s size by no means compromises his movement, speed or desire to get forward at any opportunity.
‘Every bit a modern full-back, the 21-year-old is extremely active from his role on the left, having the stamina, power and determination to cover the entirety of the flank, where he times his overlaps well and links in intelligently with his teammates.
‘For all his willingness to attack, he is also an accomplished defender and his ability to quickly enter pressing mode after the team loses possession is priceless to Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou’s high-energy, aggressive brand of football.
‘Udogie’s sheer enthusiasm for the game is contagious, too.’
Spurs have well and truly struck gold with Udogie, and for just £15million, he also counts as an absolute bargain.
It’ll be exciting to see how the Italian continues to develop in the coming season. One thing’s for sure though, and it’s that Tottenham have a real star on their hands in Udogie.
