Spurs fans want Ben White after England display

A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Ben White after the defender shone for England on Sunday.

White was one of the players with a point to prove as the Three Lions faced Romania at the Riverside Stadium.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold set to miss the Euros, Gareth Southgate has one more space in his squad to fill.

And White certainly managed to stake a claim as England secured a narrow win. The centre-back was excellent as the home side kept a clean sheet.

He won a number of tackles and interceptions. And he very much outshone Tyrone Mings, who will indeed be involved for England over the coming weeks.

It seems that his performance did not escape the attention of some Tottenham fans on social media.

It looks set to be a pivotal summer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Of course, the club is still searching for its new manager.

But a number of changes will surely be made to the playing squad also. And according to Football London, Spurs plan to sign two centre-backs during this window.

For some, White seems to be the perfect fit. The 23-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding first year in the Premier League.

He may have felt under a little pressure after Brighton reportedly rejected a £25 million move from Leeds last summer.

But he proved to be a revelation in the top flight. And not only was his form acknowledged with an England call-up, but he was also named Brighton’s Player of the Season.

He is also a player who has been linked with Spurs on a couple of occasions.

In fact, it was suggested in April that he was on Tottenham’s radar. According to the Brighton and Hove Independent, he could cost £50 million.

Whoever comes in as Spurs’ new manager, it appears imperative that the defence is strengthened.

And White could arguably be a very good option for the club.

He is comfortable playing in a back two or three. And he is capable of playing on either side.

His reading of the game is outstanding. He has grown when in possession, adding a superb energy to his great composure on the ball.

So if Tottenham are prepared to pay big money for a defender this summer, a move for White would seemingly please a lot of their fans.

Many took to social media while England were playing to insist that he would be a very good addition.

Some have claimed that he deserves a place in the final 26-man England squad this summer.

Others feel that he should certainly find himself on Tottenham’s shopping list over the coming months.

Based on the way he has cleared every hurdle in his career so far, it seems highly likely that he would impress if he joined a team looking to fight higher up the Premier League table.
