In summer, Tottenham Hotspur were being linked with Marcus Thuram.
The 24-year-old was a player in demand, with Spurs reportedly up against the likes of Inter Milan for his services.
Tottenham director Fabio Paratici had made Thuram’s signing a priority, according to Foot Mercato.

And L’Equipe claimed Spurs were in fact in talks with Borussia Monchengladbach over potentially signing him.
However, Thuram wasn’t going cheap – BILD reported Gladbach wanted €45m (around £38m).
In the end, the France international stayed put.
However, Thuram hasn’t hit the same heights this season that he managed in 2020-21.
Last year, he recorded 11 goals and 12 assists from 40 appearances for his club.
This term, Thuram hasn’t got a single goal assist, and has only made nine club appearances.
And according to L’Equipe, Gladbach are willing to do business starting from €15m (£13m).
This means Spurs could theoretically land him in January for £25m cheaper than they would have in summer.

Could Spurs land “phenomenal” striker?
Thuram, the son of France legend and 1998 World Cup winner Lilian, is a player with a bright future.
Breaking The Lines wrote last year that he “has a rare combination of physical prowess, technical ability, and speed of mind.
“Although best coming in from the left flank – whether that be in a front three or two – Thuram is also effective playing as a centre-forward or on the right wing.”
With Conte favouring a 3-4-3 formation, Thuram could compete with Harry Kane up front or play alongside him.
Dennis Zakaria praised Thuram in 2019 after he scored a late winner against Roma in the Europa League.
“It was so important that Marcus scored that goal today,” said Zakaria, via Bulinews.
“He is a great guy, a little crazy maybe, but what he brings to the pitch is phenomenal.”
