Spurs blow as report claims it's clear 31-year-old only wants Italy move after recent Paratici enquiry
Spurs seemingly look set to miss on Miralem Pjanic, with Spanish outlet Sport reporting that it is clear that the midfielder only wants to leave Barcelona for a club in Italy.
Pjanic could leave the Nou Camp after just one year with the Catalan giants. And it appeared that Tottenham may have offered him a new challenge.
Recent reports claimed that Spurs had made a move to sign the 31-year-old on loan. Fabio Paratici, of course, knows the Bosnian from his time at Juventus.
More recently, it was claimed that Pjanic could leave on a free transfer. Unsurprisingly, plenty of Tottenham fans seemed incredibly excited about the prospect of landing him for no transfer fee.
However, it now appears that those supporters who want Pjanic are set for disappointment.
According to Sport, it is clear that he wants to move to Italy. It is also stated that he wants to keep his Barca salary when he leaves.
Sport adds that he has loan offers from Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan. Obviously, that may mean that he could end up working with Jose Mourinho.
Blow for Spurs as Pjanic set sights on move elsewhere
Signing Pjanic on loan may not have been universally popular with all Tottenham fans.
Temporary deals are not ideal with Nuno Espirito Santo looking to help the side to bounce back. He would have commanded big wages. And he is not a young player.
However, many will likely be disappointed. Pjanic cost £55 million just last year.
And Barca will be as keen as anyone to reach an agreement. So that may have presented Spurs with an opportunity to do a shrewd deal.
It is therefore, disappointing that he seems to have set his sights on Italy.
