Spurs and Liverpool transfer target Amrabat wants Atletico Madrid move
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target Sofyan Amrabat is very interested in joining Atletico Madrid during the January transfer window, but Fiorentina would prefer to sell him to the Premier League, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Amrabat remains with the Serie A side despite winning a lot of admirers during the World Cup. He was ‘outstanding‘ as Morocco reached the semi-final in Qatar.
Foot Mercato reports that Jurgen Klopp has met with Amrabat. Meanwhile, Tottenham are also admirers of the 26-year-old. But it seems that he is hoping to move elsewhere this month.
Tottenham and Liverpool target Amrabat wants to join Atletico Madrid in January
According to the report from Foot Mercato, his preference is to move to Atletico Madrid. However, there is a problem for the former Club Brugge star.
The report notes that the biggest offers are coming from the Premier League. And with that, Fiorentina have no intention of accepting a lower bid – which Atleti are likely to make. Previous reports have suggested that he is valued at around £40 million.
Diego Simeone’s men do not have the biggest budget in this window. So they are going to struggle to match what Liverpool and Tottenham may put on the table for Amrabat.
Much will depend – for Liverpool and Spurs – on how determined Amrabat is to leave this month. If he is so keen to join Atletico, he may be prepared to wait until the summer to see if their financial situation changes.
But if he is just determined to go, then any offers from the Reds or Tottenham may become more appealing.
It should be less of a priority for Spurs. Antonio Conte’s men are already in a good position in the middle of the park.
But Liverpool need to resolve their issues sooner or later. And with that, a bid for Amrabat may be tempting the longer he remains in Florence.
