Southampton fans react as Spurs eye James Ward-Prowse

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Telegraph claiming that Spurs have joined the race to sign James Ward-Prowse.

It has proved to be a sobering summer for the Saints. Ryan Bertrand left when his contract expired. Danny Ings stunned many by joining Aston Villa.

And Jannik Vestergaard looks to be close to following Bertrand to Leicester. According to reports, he has told teammates that he expects to join the Foxes.

Unfortunately, it appears that they may face a fight to keep another keep player.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham have joined Aston Villa in the race to sign Ward-Prowse. It is claimed that the pair are preparing moves for after the opening weekend of the season.

As noted in the report, Southampton CEO Martin Semmens has vowed that Ward-Prowse will not leave. So it would certainly appear that his admirers face an uphill battle.

Certainly, many Saints fans seem defiant about the links. Several have insisted that there is no chance that he is leaving.
