‘Something may well be happening’: Villa could be making move to sign 25-year-old attacker now – journalist

Aston Villa may well make a move to reunite Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma with Unai Emery at Villa Park.

That is according to journalist Dan Bardell on YouTube, amid reports that Danjuma is in talks with Everton over a January move.

Danjuma worked with Emery at Villarreal, where the Spaniard took him from Bournemouth outcast to a Champions League semi-finalist.

Emery is embarking on his first transfer window at Villa, and a reunion with the 25-year-old this month makes plenty of sense.

Villa could soon move for Danjuma

Bardell said: “Danjuma, all I’ll say is keep an eye on that, because I think something may well be happening with Danjuma to Villa. Keep your eye on that one. That’s one I think may progress.

“I think Villa are fairly well moved on with a forward player and it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s him at all. I could be wrong but I’ve heard a couple of things and I would expect in the next couple of days, you’ll start hearing things about Danjuma to Villa.”

Danjuma also made it clear in an interview with the Athletic recently that he is open to a move to the Premier League, saying, when asked: “You always have to say yes. You can’t shut the door to the Premier League.

“The competitiveness of the country, the way that the fans are, the way that football has been ingrained here in the people’s culture — the Premier League is a different kind of experience. At the right time, at the right moment in my career, you always have to be open to that.”

Danjuma was linked with West Ham during the summer but the move did not materalise and David Moyes moved onto other targets.

Emery has already said that Villa need a winger, and given Danjuma is speaking to Everton, it would be a surprise if Villa did not try and get involved in that particular race.

We will wait and see whether Danjuma proves to be the ‘specific’ winger Emery is after, but getting in players who already know his methods well seems likely to speed up the evolution process at Villa Park.

Danjuma has unfinished business in the Premier League and the division clearly appeals to him, and it is hard to see a downside if Villa decide to bid – at the right price of course.
