Some West Ham fans react to Danny Ings joining Aston Villa, amid previous Hammers links

Danny Ings completed a move on Wednesday from Southampton to Aston Villa – and some West Ham fans on Twitter reacted to the news on Twitter.

Villa have yet again strengthened their squad this summer by signing Ings in a £25million deal.

The 29-year-old English striker has walked away from St Mary’s after a few years shining for them, scoring 46 goals in 100 appearances in total.

He’s a proven Premier League marksman that is a reliable goalscorer around the penalty box, so it looks like a great addition for the Midlands club.

Villa’s interest in the centre-forward was mooted in The Athletic in July. In addition, West Ham were named as potential suitors, too.

Have Hammers missed a big opportunity to move for Danny Ings?

For £25million, Ings is certainly a risk given his age and bad injury lucky earlier in his career. However, it’s one that was worth taking for West Ham.

Aston Villa have tempted him to their club, despite the fact they’ve already got Ollie Watkins as an attacking option. 

Hammers boss David Moyes has Michail Antonio as his first-choice striker, but clearly another striker is needed at the London Stadium due to the added Europa League fixtures they’ve got to play this season.
