Roman Yaremchuk starred for Ukraine in their win at Euro 2020 on Thursday afternoon – and some West Ham fans on Twitter were amazed by the performance from their reported transfer target.

Yaremchuk, along with West Ham’s Andriy Yarmolenko, scored for Ukraine in a 2-1 victory against North Macedonia.

25-year-old Ukraine striker Yaremchuk netted what turned out to be the winning goal with a composed low finish, so his country remain firmly in the hunt to qualify for the knockout stages.

He’s scored in back-to-back games now at the beginning of the Euros, so there is a lot of attention on him.

The centre-forward plays his club football in Belgium with Gent. He managed 23 goals in just 43 appearances during the 2020/21 season for them.

According to the Express earlier this week, West Ham are one of the clubs interested in trying to sign Yaremchuk.

Apparently, Genk would want close to £24million to sell him. Additionally there is also interest from Sevilla, Bologna and Bayer Leverkusen in him.

West Ham fans want Roman Yaremchuk

A selection of Irons supporters on social media are convinced Gent’s frontman could succeed at the London Stadium.

The in-form striker is someone turning up in games on the international stage, so that’s a huge tick next to his name straight away.

He’s enjoyed a great goalscoring campaign with Gent, But, replicating that in English football is a different task.

There is no doubt West Ham boss David Moyes needs a striker. Above all, they can’t rely solely on Michail Antonio.
