Some Tottenham fans bemoan Gazzaniga's departure
Some Tottenham Hotspur fans were feeling frustrated after the club posted a tweet bidding farewell to Paulo Gazzaniga, whose contract is due to expire.
On a post on Twitter, the Lilywhites posted a simple tweet thanking the Argentine with a raft of different pictures of his time at the club.
Gazzaniga has been at the north London outfit since moving from Southampton back in 2017. He followed his then-former manager Mauricio Pochettino in making the move from the south coast to the capital.
The Murphy-born ace has endured an up-down time with Spurs and spent this season on loan with Elche in La Liga.
Overall, he made 37 appearances across all competitions, conceding 43 goals and keeping 10 clean sheets. His most successful campaign for the club came in the 2019/2020 season where he made 19 appearances in the Premier League.
TBR View: Gazzaniga should be retained over Hart
Over the course of his Spurs career, Gazzaniga has looked nothing less than assured. His performances in place of the injured Hugo Lloris last season were solid enough where by the club didn’t feel the loss of the Frenchman.
With his contract due to expire at the end of June, letting Gazzaniga leave Tottenham ahead of the likes of Joe Hart makes little sense. The ex-Manchester City ace’s performances in the famous white shirt have been less than assuring calling into question the decision to let the 29-year-old leave.
Here is how fans reacted to the post…
Imagine letting go of him and keeping Joe Hart, our club will forever be a laughing stock— ZEBADEE (@SebPacey) May 27, 2021
We should have kept him, just to model our kits and merch. Poor business decision.— Mo (@MoCap786) May 27, 2021
Better than Hart— Bacon (@Sir_Spinksy) May 27, 2021
Thank you for your time at the club. Best of luck for the future. Superb back up. Not given enough chances!— howard charles chris (@rastuswatermell) May 27, 2021
Top quality keeper who just needed the confidence and backing of the club👌— Neil (@NeilRobertSmith) May 27, 2021
Another mistake by @SpursOfficial letting you go
My wife is devastated too and she hates football 😂
All the very best to you 👍
Why? He's better than Hart— shonen (@shounen117) May 27, 2021
