Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga left the club on loan yesterday on deadline day – and some of the Spurs fans on Twitter reacted with real anger to the news.

Gazzaniga has joined Spanish top-flight club Elche on loan for the rest of the season.

The 29-year-old has been with Spurs since 2017 and during that time he’s been in reserve behind number one Hugo Lloris.

But the Argentine shot-stopper has still played 37 first-team games for Spurs and has done a great job filling in at tmes, especially during the first half of last season when Lloris was sidelined through injury.

But Spurs decided to sign Joe Hart on a free transfer in the summer and manager Jose Mourinho has preferred him as his number two goalkeeper this season.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media believe that Gazzaniga has been treated harshly and are convinced he should be above Hart in the goalkeeper pecking order.

If Lloris suffers an injury problem between now and the end of the season, that will leave Hart as the senior option to replace him.

Gazzaniga will hope he can try get some minutes at La Liga club Elche, as he’s not played a game all season.
