Some Ivory Coast fans rave about Tottenham, Liverpool-linked midfielder's Sunday display at 2020 Olympics
Ivory Coast held on for a point against Brazil on Sunday morning at the 2020 Olympics – despite both teams ending the game with 10 men. A strong Ivory Coast side included AC Milan’s Franck Kessie. The Tottenham and Liverpool-linked ace gained plaudits from his fans, but was sent off.
Both sides came into the match having won their opening games. Brazil had beaten Germany in a repeat of the 2016 Gold Medal match, while the Ivory Coast surpassed Saudi Arabia 2-1. The likes of Eric Bailly, Max Gradel, Kessie, Richarlison, Matheus Cunha and plenty of others were on show.
Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz was sent off after just 13 minutes for a pretty poor decision – giving Ivory Coast the impetus to secure a point. Eventually, the game ended 0-0 – but only after Kessie was sent off himself. However, the Milan star was excellent in the 79 minutes he was on the pitch.
What have Ivory Coast fans said about Tottenham and Liverpool target Kessie?
Right now, Kessie is focusing on helping his country go far in the Olympics. But at club level, his future is undecided. The Milan ace has entered the final 12 months of his contract and a move to England is likely. Gazzetta Dello Sport say Liverpool are monitoring his situation at Milan.
Eurosport, meanwhile, say that Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici would really like to sign the impressive 24-year-old. Hardly surprising after his 14 goals from midfield last season. Ivory Coast fans raved about Kessie on Twitter despite his red card, following the draw with Brazil.
