Report claims Liverpool want Franck Kessie
Liverpool are monitoring the situation surrounding Franck Kessie as AC Milan look to try and agree a new contract with the midfielder, according to a report from Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Kessie is one of the most exciting midfield talents plying his trade in Europe right now.
But it appears that the Rossoneri face a fight to keep the 24-year-old. As noted by Transfermarkt, his contract at San Siro is set to expire next summer.
Gazzetta claims that his agent is set to meet with the Milan hierarchy in the coming week.
However, it is also noted that he has admirers, particularly in the Premier League.
And the one team named in the report is Liverpool.
Gazzetta suggests that Milan want to try and reach an agreement over a new deal upon his return from the Olympic Games.
Kessie would be outstanding signing for Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp needs to bolster his midfield ranks this summer. Of course, the club lost Georginio Wijnaldum at the end of his contract.
Kessie could be just about to head into his peak. And given his contract situation, he may not command an eye-watering fee.
Previous reports suggest he is valued at around £43 million. But given his contract situation, Liverpool may perhaps set their sights on paying less if he becomes available.
It does appear that Milan are hopeful of agreeing an extension. But if the door is open for the Reds, they must certainly ask the question.
Some Liverpool fans were hugely impressed with a performance of his last season. They insisted that he would be a fantastic target.
It appears that the Reds hierarchy may feel similarly.
