Some Aston Villa fans react to hearing Liverpool want John McGinn
A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Athletic which have claimed that Liverpool have a very real interest in John McGinn.
Villa have produced a number of outstanding pieces of business in recent years. But perhaps no deal done in the transfer market has proved as inspired as landing McGinn for just £2.75 million.
The Scotland international shone in the Championship, scoring the play-off final winner. And he has stepped up superbly in the Premier League.
Of course, Jack Grealish is widely considered the main man in Dean Smith’s side. But McGinn appears to be invaluable.
So it is probably little surprise to many that he is attracting attention. According to The Athletic, Liverpool have the 26-year-old on their radar.
It must be noted that there looks to be little chance of any sort of deal taking place this summer. The Athletic reports that Villa would need a bid of £45 million to even consider selling him.
Coincidentally, plenty of Liverpool fans were raving about McGinn just a few days ago. Many took to social media to laud the Villans star’s display for Scotland against England at Euro 2020.

And it seems that most Villa fans have implored their club to accept no offer for McGinn over the coming months.
Interestingly however, there were some who suggested that getting £45 million would be a good piece of business from Villa.
So with that in mind, here is what some of the fans made of the reports…
I wouldn’t sell him for anything. Not only is he a great player for us, his whole attitude and character is priceless within the club. He’s not a world beater, not many players are. But on his day he can be as vital to the side as Jack

Not a chance

45 million is a lot of money. Yes he’s a big voice in the dressing room but we can get a better player than him for that sort of money

Yes, this is good value. Great character and decent player, but no world beater.

I love SJM but we can’t be sentimental. For us to really push on he becomes a squad player. Would need £50m+ really, hibs (and st mirren?) get a big wedge of any sell-on.

No chance. He’s a massive part of the team and a character in the dressing room. He’s a big part of the the good atmosphere around the club.
