Some Arsenal fans frustrated as Di Marzio claims White is ‘one step away’

Some Arsenal fans were left frustrated after Gianluca Di Marzio made claims about the transfer of Ben White.

According to the Italian transfer guru, the Brighton defender is ‘one step away’ from joining the Gunners. It is thought a deal to bring the 23-year-old to the Emirates Stadium is worth £50m.

White is away with the England national team at Euro 2020. But the defender has failed to play a single minute for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Completion of a deal could make White Arsenal’s second transfer of the window. Nuno Tavares‘s £7m move from Benfica is almost done, with the ace currently in quarantine following his arrival last Friday.

Di Marzio confirmation highlights Arsenal’s dawdling

As the weeks go by, updates seem to be rolling through about a move for White.

However, it is always the same news with different words, with the update from Di Marzio highlighting the slowness from Arsenal.

It seems like the north London outfit have been ‘close’ for a few weeks now.

Prolonging the deal makes no sense from the Gunners, who need to conduct their business swiftly.

Look at Manchester United. They concluded a deal for Jadon Sancho despite his involvement at Euro 2020.

Arsenal are notorious for being slow workers in the transfer market. A deal for Thomas Partey took until the final day of last summer’s window, despite considerable speculation he was joining.

In the end, Arsenal gave in and paid the player’s release clause. Something they could have done weeks earlier.
