Declan Rice, Serge Gnabry and Joao Felix were amongst those to laud one Arsenal star on social media after the Gunners’ dramatic win over Brentford on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s men are now top of the Premier League table after a 2-1 victory over Thomas Frank’s side at the Emirates. Arsenal were made to work incredibly hard and be extremely patient before they got across the line.

And it was Kai Havertz who got the winner. The German headed home Ben White’s cross in the closing minutes to send the Emirates into a frenzy.

Of course, Havertz has proved a lot of people wrong at Arsenal over the course of the season. And the 24-year-old has now scored in each of his last four Premier League games.

It was not the perfect performance from the forward. Havertz was very lucky to not be sent off for a clear dive during the second-half having already been booked before the break.

But he made the most of the second chance, stepping up when Arsenal had that golden late opportunity.

And that is why many, including Declan Rice, have lauded Havertz on Instagram after the win ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City at Anfield today…

Mikel Arteta’s gamble paying off

Mikel Arteta took a big gamble in the summer. Arsenal spent big on Havertz after a difficult and disappointing spell at Chelsea.

His talent was undeniable. However, the Blues were never able to unlock his potential. He seemed to lack confidence. And there were real questions over what role brought the best out of him.

Arteta has needed time himself. But Havertz has come such a long way since being taken off even before the hour-mark in November’s win over Burnley.

Arsenal and Havertz look to be absolutely perfect for each other right now. And his goal has sent the side back to the summit of the table.
