'Absolutely immense': Sky Sports pundit stunned by just how good reported Liverpool target was in Qatar today

Jude Bellingham arrived on the world stage with aplomb today as he helped England to a stunning win over Iran in the World Cup.

Bellingham was selected alongside Declan Rice in midfield and he delivered when it matted. The 19-year-old scored a fine header to open the scoring. He then went on to run the game in the middle, giving Iran’s players no chance of ever dominating the ball.

Of course, Liverpool are keen on signing Bellingham. The Reds are known admirers of the Dortmund ace, with a bid expected to come at some point in the next few windows.

And watching on for Sky Sports, former England man Lee Hendrie admitted he was blown away by how good Bellingham was in an England shirt today.

“Bellingham has been absolutely immense. There hasn’t been a poor performer out there. They thoroughly deserve to be three up. I can’t speak highly enough of how good a player Bellingham is. He’s going to be one of the world’s best there’s no doubt about it,” Hendrie said on Sky Sports.

After the game, Alan Shearer claimed it was ‘only a matter of time’ before Liverpool landed Bellingham. On this display, Liverpool fans would be more than entitled to get a tad excited.

Everyone knows Liverpool need a new central midfielder but even the most optimistic fan couldn’t have predicted just how good Bellingham might be.

He was nothing short of sensational out there today and there is so many things to like in his game.

Bellingham will turn Liverpool back into title contenders, it is that simple. If the Reds can beat the rush to sign him, then they’re back on the right track. That was some performance today, and England fans will simply hope it’s only the start.
