Sky reporter backs Arsenal to make ‘unbelievable’ double signing

Arsenal have “every chance” of signing two top midfielders this summer, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

In addition, the Sky Sports reporter told GiveMeSport that the Gunners will “definitely” try to get at least one.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo in recent months.

The Gunners seem well-positioned to make a successful attempt to sign the West Ham captain.

Arsenal also tried to sign Caicedo in January and are apparently still eyeing the Brighton star.

Asked if there was a chance Arsenal could bring in two midfielders this summer, Sheth said: “There’s every chance.

“We know that Rice is the priority target.

“But you’ve got to remember that in January, we knew of the interest in Declan Rice. But we also knew that they’d made two or three bids for Moises Caicedo at Brighton as well.

“Was it one or the other? Or were they being ambitious and thinking ‘Let’s try and get both of these players?’

“I think they will definitely try and get one in that area in the summer.”

Our view

Arsenal will be playing in the Champions League next season and, as such, must strengthen to fight on four fronts.

In addition, the Gunners’ lack of strength in depth in midfield has hampered them somewhat.

Beyond Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Jorginho, their options haven’t been title-challenging quality.

Rice and Caicedo have both been deemed ‘unbelievable’. Indeed, we’ve all seen what they can do in the Premier League.

Neither will be particularly easy to get, nor will they come cheap. Arsenal will likely have to spend huge sums for even just one.

However, with the Gunners now challenging for the title and competing in the Champions League, it’s not exactly a hard sell for the targets.

We’ll see what happens in the coming months, but no matter what happens in the league, Arsenal will certainly work hard to keep building.
