Simon Jordan sends stark Oliver Glasner warning to Crystal Palace following Community Shield triumph

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has warned the club about the future of Oliver Glasner after he guided the Eagles to their Community Shield triumph.

Oliver Glasner has written his name into the record books with Crystal Palace by delivering the first two major trophies in the club’s history.

Justin Devenny scored the winning penalty for the Eagles as they beat Liverpool on penalties to add the Community Shield to the FA Cup title they claimed earlier this year.

However, there is a cloud on the horizon for Glasner’s side as they look set to lose influential defender Marc Guehi this summer. Star playmaker Eberechi Eze could also leave following persistent links with Arsenal.

Now, Jordan has warned that Palace also run the risk of losing Glasner if they do not back him in the transfer market following their latest Wembley triumph.

Crystal Palace risk losing Oliver Glasner

Speaking on the Jim White Show on Talksport (on the morning of the 11th August 2025), Jordan shared his view on the future of the influential Palace boss.

According to Jordan, Glasner could walk away from the club if they do not help him build a squad capable of challenging again this season.

Jordan said: “Glasner must have had a conversation with Parrish. He must have had an explicit level of… not so much dictating, but his desire to build the team.

“And if he doesn’t get it, then Palace will go on, but they will lose Glasner sooner rather than later if they do not back him to some extent.

“But the finances won’t be enormous. If you win the FA Cup, you haven’t won much money.”

FA Cup winners have not been active in the transfer market

Glasner led Palace to a successful 2024/25 season, with their FA Cup win complemented by a respectable 12th-place finish in the Premier League.

However, they have failed to provide Glasner with backing in the transfer window to build from a position of strength, as he faces the prospect of losing two key players.

As things stand, Palace have made just two signings ahead of the new season, with goalkeeper Walter Benitez and full-back Borna Sosa joining from the Dutch Eredivisie.

Whilst it is possible that Glasner will receive some of the funds should Eze and Guehi leave, he will be hoping that Palace can complete some transfer business before the end of the transfer window.
