Arsenal’s Hale End academy has produced some incredible footballers in recent years.
Bukayo Saka is a bona fide world-class player. Folarin Balogun, Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe all left Arsenal for over £30m, while Reiss Nelson has bags of ability too.
Meanwhile, the next crop of Arsenal talents are now coming through, and there are two players in particular who are making waves.
Indeed, Ethan Nwaneri looks like a star in the making, while Myles Lewis-Skelly has been hailed for his performances lately.
Speaking on Team Talks, Shaun Wright-Phillips has been discussing Lewis-Skelly’s ability, and he’s spoken incredibly highly of the teenager.
According to the pundit, Lewis-Skelly is an immense talent, claiming that he’s an unbelievable plaer.
In fact, Wright-Phillips went as far as to say that Lewis-Skelly is the best left-back he has seen since Ashley Cole.

The pundit spoke incredibly highly of the teenager.
Indeed, Wright-Phillips says that Myles Lewis-Skelly is a remarkable talent, going as far as to compare him to Ashley Cole.
“Nwaneri I think he’s a fantastic player, but, honestly, I am a Lewis-Skelly fan. The kid is unbelievable,” Wright-Phillips said.
“I’ll go as far as to say, I’d say he’s the best, not even actual left-back, but he’s the best person I’ve seen at left-back since Ashley Cole.”
Shaun Wright-Phillips record vs Ashley Cole
This is a big claim from Wright-Phillips, particularly as he knows first-hand how good Ashley Cole was.
Indeed, Wright-Phillips was in his prime on the right wing at the same time Cole was perhaps the best left-back in the world.
These two played against each other on no fewer than 15 occasions, and it’s fair to say that Wright-Phillips didn’t have the best of records against Cole.
| Shaun Wright-Phillips record vs Ashley Cole | |
|---|---|
| Games | 15 |
| Wins | 4 |
| Draws | 3 |
| Losses | 8 |
| Goals | 1 |
Wright-Phillips was also Cole’s teammate with Chelsea and England, so he definitely knows how good the full-back was.
Comparing Lewis-Skelly to Cole isn’t something that Wright-Phillips will have said lightly, and while it may be a tad hyperbolic at this point, it’s a testament to how much the 18-year-old has impressed this season.
Arsenal certainly have a young star on their hands here.
