Serge Aurier, Mousa Dembele and Tottenham players react as Erik Lamela confirmed as leaving club
Tottenham have confirmed the exit of Erik Lamela after the Argentina international was included in a deal for Bryan Gil. The Spanish wonderkid joins Spurs in a deal believed to have cost around £21.6million, and Lamela. Lamela has sent a message to Tottenham, and many have replied.
Lamela, 29, departs after eight years in North London. The Argentina international clocked up a whopping 257 appearances in all competitions for Spurs – producing 84 goal involvements in that time. But having entered the final year of his contract, Spurs have decided to get rid of Lamela.
In a slightly unorthodox move, the impressive Fabio Paratici has included Lamela alongside a sizeable sum – to land wonderkid Gil. The latter is currently in Tokyo with Spain’s Olympics squad. Lamela posted an emotional message on Instagram after his Spurs exit had been agreed.
What have Tottenham players sent to Lamela on Instagram – including Aurier and Dele?
Clearly, Lamela was a well-liked member of the Tottenham squad. Not many remain from the golden era under Mauricio Pochettino – or even before the Argentine boss arrived from Southampton. But along with the likes of Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Lamela was a long-standing member.
While his impact on the pitch diminished at Spurs during his last few seasons, much since a hip injury, he remained a willing player. Fans liked Lamela because of his work rate. It is also shown in those replying, with the majority of his teammates commenting.
Many Tottenham stars wish Lamela the best on Instagram, while Aurier tells Lamela that he will miss the winger. Lucas Moura’s message is translated as: “I’m going to miss you, brother. All the success in the world. God bless you in this new challenge”. Mousa Dembele also commented.
