Everton have been fairly busy in the summer transfer window, signing two players and selling three others.
The Toffees have strengthened their ranks with the signings of Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam, while also selling Amadou Onana, Ben Godfrey and Lewis Dobbin.
Onana’s departure has left a big hole in the Everton midfield, which is something they’ll be desperate to rectify before the season starts.
Now, a report has claimed that Blues boss Sean Dyche has identified a “formidable” midfielder he would like to bring to Goodison Park this summer.

Everton boss Sean Dyche keen on Kalvin Phillips
The player in question is Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, who is currently out of favour at the Premier League champions and looks likely to leave.
According to talkSPORT, Everton are ready to offer the England international an escape route, with Dyche keen on bringing him to Merseyside.
The report claims Everton are ‘only likely to finance a loan deal’ for Phillips, but it has been reported that City are happy to send their player out on loan.
TBR Football recently reported that Phillips is open to joining Everton, with City ready to let him leave on a loan deal with subsidised wages.
Phillips would prosper under Dyche man-management
Phillips is a classic example of a brilliant player with a superb track record who has made a move that has not worked out and needs a fresh start.
It’s worth remembering just how highly Man City director of football Txiki Begiristain spoke of Phillips when he joined for £45million just two years ago.
“Kalvin is a player that we have long admired, and at both domestic and international level, he has proved his fantastic ability and quality over the past few seasons,” he told the club website.
“His reading of the game, alongside his passing ability, energy and drive make him a formidable talent and he is a player who has a fantastic will to win.”
Although his time at City and his loan stint at West Ham haven’t gone well, a superb man-manager like Dyche will surely get him firing on all cylinders again.
“His man-management skills are second to none,” Paul Robinson told Sky Sports News of Dyche in 2023.
“He knows how to have a close relationship with a player but also strongly maintain the player-manager divide.”
