Everton have been somewhat busy on the transfer front in recent weeks, both in terms of incomings and also outgoings.

The Toffees have made two signings so far, bringing forward Iliman Ndiaye to Goodison Park from Marseille and signing midfielder Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa.

Everton have also sold Ben Godfrey to Atalanta, while Lewis Dobbin has linked up with Aston Villa.

In the coming days, Amadou Onana should also be completing a move to Villa Park.

With Onana set to depart Goodison Park, Sean Dyche will be needing a replacement.

Now, a talented young midfielder on Everton’s radar is apparently in line for a loan move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Everton target Lesley Ugochukwu set for loan move away from Chelsea

The player in question is Lesley Ugochukwu, who plies his trade for Chelsea and represents France’s Under-21s at international level.

Romano has taken to X to report that the 20-year-old is now “expected to leave Chelsea this summer” as the club wants him to develop out on loan.

Clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga are “showing concrete interest” in Ugochukwu, added the transfer insider.

Who is Everton target Lesley Ugochukwu?

Lesley Ugochukwu is a defensive midfielder who plays for Chelsea and represents France at Under-21 level.

The Blues signed Ugochukwu from Rennes last summer for a fee of £23.2million, according to BBC Sport.

Ugochukwu made 12 Premier League appearances last season, and also featured three times in the Carabao Cup.

Back in 2022, L’Equipe reported that Arsenal were keen on the 20-year-old and viewed him as a ‘future Patrick Vieira’.

A year earlier, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout also made comparisons between the reported Everton target and Vieira, as well as giving him a “world-class” 10 out of 10 potential rating.

Other players linked with Everton in summer transfer window

Everton have also been linked with a host of other players, with Napoli’s Jesper Lindstrom featuring prominently on the Blues rumour mill.

For instance, UOL have claimed that the Toffees have made contact with Palmeiras to sign Richard Rios.

Meanwhile, French outlet Foot Mercato have reported that Everton have approached Montpellier to sign Becir Omeragic.

And Turkish publication Sporanki have stated that Everton have also made contact to sign another central defender in Yasin Arda Midilic.
