Scottish media reaction proves Andy Robertson has a future at Liverpool

Scottish media have hailed Andy Robertson’s latest performance, which proves that there is still a future for him at Liverpool.

Liverpool signed Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth during the summer transfer window for £40million, which cast doubts about Robertson’s long-term future at Anfield.

Despite Arne Slot bringing in a fresh left-back, the Scotland international has remained at the club, even though Robertson was linked with Atletico Madrid throughout the summer.

The 31-year-old has struggled to get a look-in for the Reds, with Kerkez starting all three Premier League games so far, but his recent performance for Scotland might have reminded people of his talent.

Andy Robertson provides ‘tantalising crosses’ for Scotland

Robertson might have dropped down the pecking order at Liverpool, but for Scotland, he remains the first choice, and that was highlighted this week.

The left-back played every minute of Scotland’s goalless draw against Denmark, playing his part in Steve Clarke’s team picking up a clean sheet, and The Scotsman gave him an eight out of 10 for his performance.

‘The captain has not started this season for Liverpool, but class is permanent. Now such an experienced player, Robertson patrolled his left flank very well.

‘Was fairly quiet in an attacking sense in the first half, but as the match wore on, he put in some tantalising crosses into the penalty box, but nobody on the end to put them in.’

The Scottish Sun was also impressed with Robertson, in particular his passing range, as they rewarded his efforts with a seven out of 10.

‘Sent over two glorious balls for Dykes and Adams within a minute of each other as the game opened up but neither could get on the end of them.’

Andy Robertson will play a key role for Liverpool

Robertson might not be the first choice left back for Slot anymore, but there’s no doubt that he will end up having a big role to play in their season.

With Liverpool competing for silverware in four competitions, it’s inevitable that he will receive plenty of game time to contribute.

While he might not be the regular feature he was during Jurgen Klopp’s era, Robertson will get the opportunity to prove his ability to others.

He was given 30 minutes off the bench against Bournemouth on the opening day of the season, and with Champions League football about to start, Slot will likely be set to rotate the team more.

If Robertson can deliver similar levels of performances to what he did for Scotland, then he will be sure to give the Liverpool boss something to think about.
