West Ham United have endured something of a difficult start to this season.
Graham Potter is under some sort of pressure at the London Stadium at the moment, and while West Ham won their last game 3-0, the Hammers boss isn’t out of the woods just yet.
Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has been discussing the West Ham job after he was asked about one potential Potter replacement.
Indeed, Jose Mourinho has been mentioned in connection with West Ham recently, but according to Allardyce, this isn’t the type of appointment he thinks David Sullivan would make.
Of course, Allardyce knows Sullivan well from his time as the manager of West Ham.

Sam Allardyce shares Jose Mourinho to West Ham verdict
Allardyce spoke about the idea of Mourinho going to West Ham.
The former Hammers gaffer says he couldn’t see David Sullivan making such a hire, but he says that fans would probably take to Mourinho if he were to come in.
Interestingly, Allardyce says that on a personal level, he thinks this wouldn’t be the best of ideas from his former club.
“I couldn’t see David doing it personally. I couldn’t. You know, I think it would be, I think Jose would be too much for him,” Allardyce said.
“I think from a fan perspective, they probably would like to see it, but on a practicality, I’m not sure. My own view probably wouldn’t be the best idea.”
Jose Mourinho’s record vs West Ham
Allardyce doesn’t think Mourinho will go to West Ham, but if he did, this could be one of the most game-changing appointments the Hammers have ever made.
West Ham fans don’t need telling what Mourinho has achieved in this game, he’s been there and done it all.
Mourinho is a bona fide Premier League legend, and Hammers fans know all too well how unbeatable his teams can be.
| Jose Mourinho’s record vs West Ham | |
| Games | 20 |
| Wins | 13 |
| Draws | 4 |
| Losses | 3 |
Mourinho has only lost three times in 20 meetings against West Ham, on one occasion with each of Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.
The Portuguese gaffer may well be past his best, but, make no mistake about it, he still has plenty to offer in the Premier League at a club like West Ham.
