Romano says Tottenham have now opened talks to sign Destiny Udogie
Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks to sign Destiny Udogie, in a deal that could see the 19-year-old return to Udinese on loan for the coming season, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs have strengthened in both wing-back roles this summer. On the left, Ivan Perisic have arrived to challenge Ryan Sessegnon. Sergio Reguilon meanwhile, may now leave the club.
Despite Perisic’s move, Tottenham may be on the verge of adding further depth to their ranks.
Reports in June claimed that Spurs were keen on Udogie. In fact, Fabio Paratici met with his agent in London following the youngster’s superb season on loan with Udinese.
It appears that Tottenham have now stepped up their interest. Romano has reported on Twitter that talks over a permanent deal for Udogie are underway.
Several clubs are also keen on the Italy under-21 international. But Spurs could let him immediately return on loan for the coming campaign, Romano reports…

Tottenham have opened talks to sign Udogie
Tottenham produced a similar deal 12 months ago. They agreed to sign Pape Matar Sarr before loaning him straight back to Metz.
Sarr shone during that extra in France, despite Metz’s campaign ending up in relegation. So Spurs may be hoping that another year in Italy for Udogie proves beneficial.
He would probably not play a lot if he made the move to North London this summer. And in an ideal world, he would perhaps be ready to come into the fold when the time comes to look beyond Perisic.
Obviously, Tottenham’s focus right now will not be on replacing the Croatian who is yet to make his debut. They will just hope to now get the deal done.
