Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to suggest that reports William Saliba could leave Arsenal are wide of the mark, and only a crazy offer could tempt the Gunners to allow the Frenchman to depart.

Saliba’s future continues to be a key talking point for Arsenal fans. Of course, he is still awaiting the chance to make his competitive debut for the club.

There have been reports that Mikel Arteta has Saliba in his plans next year. However, it was also claimed that at the weekend that Marseille are willing to pay £25 million for the centre-back. And, potentially crucially, the 21-year-old is open to the move.

However, Romano has now attempted to clear up any confusion surrounding the youngster. The journalist has insisted that there is nothing in the suggestions Saliba could leave – unless Arsenal receive an offer they simply cannot refuse.

Reports Saliba could leave Arsenal wide of the mark

Plenty of Arsenal fans will be delighted to hear that Saliba looks set to stay at the Emirates. He has become a favourite of supporters without ever playing a minute for the club.

But he has displayed his talent out on loan, in particular, shining with Marseille last season. And he is now a France international.

Obviously, he is not yet the finished article. And he may have to bide his time to force his way ahead of Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes.

But he is an ‘extraordinary‘ talent. And it would be ominous for his long-term future if he left in any capacity in this window.

Thankfully for Arsenal, he looks to be going nowhere.
