Newcastle United have asked Arsenal for information about William Saliba, with L’Equipe reporting that Leicester City are amongst his admirers ahead of the summer transfer window.

Saliba’s future has seemingly been a talking point ever since he arrived at the Emirates. He has spent the large part of his time on the Gunners’ books out on loan.

Most recently, the 21-year-old has enjoyed a successful spell with Marseille. And it seems that Mikel Arteta was happy enough with what he saw from the youngster.

Reports recently claimed that the Arsenal boss had decided to use Saliba in his plans next season. That was despite interest from Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, you would imagine that Marseille would love to have him again.

L’Equipe also suggests that Arteta wants to hold onto Saliba. And Arsenal plan to offer him a new contract.

There is Premier League interest. The report claims that both Newcastle and Leicester have asked for information about Saliba. Napoli are also keen on taking him to Serie A.

As things stand, it appears that Saliba will be playing for Arsenal next season. However, much can change over the coming weeks and months.

Arteta may only make a final decision once he gets a chance to look at Saliba in pre-season. And obviously, if he changes his mind, another loan move, or even a permanent exit, may make sense.

A Premier League loan may be the next step in his development if Arsenal are still unconvinced. And clearly, a lot of English sides will find it easier than most to make a substantial bid if he is set to leave permanently.

Saliba is an ‘extraordinary‘ talent. It would be ominous if he left again. But Arsenal do seemingly have the option if needed.
