Arsenal might have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante in recent weeks but Fabrizio Romano has some disappointing news for Gunners fans.
Kante is set to leave Chelsea for nothing in the summer. Injuries have robbed him off regular game time and as things stand, there is no sign of a new deal being signed. The Frenchman is set to miss the World Cup through injury as well, in a bitter blow to his nation.

Of course, Kante is known for being one of the very best midfielders of his generation. That has led to Arsenal fans feeling quite excited about the prospect of signing him. However, speaking on his YouTube channel just now, Fabrizio Romano says that there is zero chance of it happening as things stand.
“We had rumours in the summer and had Arsenal ready to make a proposal for N’Golo Kante. I can tell you that there was never negotiations between Arsenal and Chelsea for Kante. Not an approach, not a bid, nothing. So at the moment, nothing at the moment between Arsenal and N’Golo Kante,” Romano told his YouTube channel this evening.
Dubbed as an ‘amazing‘ player by Antonio Conte in the past, Tottenham are also thought to have positioned themselves to make a move for Kante as well.
TBR’s View: Kante To Arsenal Seems Hard To Do
The biggest issue with this potential transfer is that it doesn’t fit with what Arsenal have been trying to do for the last few transfer windows. Kante is over 30, and while he is brilliant, that’s now how the Gunners are doing business.
Of course, on a short-term deal and if fully fit, Kante would do a job for Arsenal in the Premier League. His experience might also be vital in Europe, with a place in the top four now looking more likely.
However, it seems a tough deal to do and this spate of injuries has done Kante no favours either in terms of proving his fitness.
