Report: N'Golo Kante offered to Arsenal and Tottenham on free transfer

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been offered N’Golo Kante with the midfielder looking set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Kante has been one of the world’s best midfielders over the last seven years. However, his time with Stamford Bridge appears to be coming towards an end.

His contract expires at the end of the season. And Foot Mercato suggests that he could leave on a free transfer rather than pen any sort of extension with the Blues.

Kante offered to Arsenal and Tottenham

The report notes that he is keen to stay in London. And with that, he has been offered to both Arsenal and Spurs. Paris Saint-Germain meanwhile, are not looking to sign the 31-year-old at this time, despite previous interest.

Kante’s influence at Chelsea has waned more recently. However, there is absolutely no question that he would have the potential to be an inspired signing for either Arsenal or Tottenham next summer.

He turns 32 in March. So he still has plenty of time left at the top of the game. And he is a proven winner, having lifted the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and World Cup.

Conte could have chance to seal reunion?

It was during Antonio Conte’s spell with Chelsea that Kante made the move back in 2016. And he quickly became an absolutely pivotal member of the side with the Blues, making it back-to-back title wins for him personally after achieving the impossible with Leicester.

Conte has turned to experience already during his time at Spurs, bringing in the likes of Ivan Perisic, Clement Lenglet and Fraser Forster.

Conte also labelled him an ‘amazing‘ player during their time working together. So it would be no surprise to see the links with Spurs intensify.

Arsenal meanwhile, are building a much younger squad. But clearly, the members of the side who boast greater experience, such as Granit Xhaka have a huge role to play.

So you could see why Mikel Arteta or Antonio Conte would have an interest in such a deal should Kante indeed look to be on the brink of leaving.
