Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Leeds United are offering more than £25.8 million plus add-ons for Charles De Ketelaere as they look to beat AC Milan to the Belgian’s signature.

The Whites are not waiting around in this window. They have already brought in a number of signings. And they look to be closing in on two more in the form of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra.

But there is still a sense that they need to bolster their forward ranks. And it seems that De Ketelaere is their top target for that role.

Previous reports have claimed that Leeds are prepared to meet Club Bruges’ £34.4 million asking price for the 21-year-old. However, they face plenty of competition.

Leicester want the Belgium international. Meanwhile, Romano has claimed on Twitter that AC Milan have made an opening bid of £17.2 million.

But it seems that Leeds may be making the biggest play for the youngster right now. Romano added in the same post that Jesse Marsch’s men are already offering to make De Ketelaere one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history

After finishing 17th last season, many would probably be tempted to tip Leeds for relegation with one of their best players leaving and another potentially on his way.

But the Whites have already made four positive signings and could soon have six through the door.

Signing De Ketelaere would be a serious statement of intent. He is one of the most talented young forwards around. The Italian champions would not be chasing him otherwise.

It is going to be difficult to beat Milan to his signature. But Leeds are clearly giving it a good shot right now.
