Tottenham are on the verge of parting ways with midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, with the midfielder in Spain to complete a move to Villarreal.
Reports yesterday emerged to suggest Lo Celso was indeed on his way to Villarreal as he edges towards completing a season-long loan move to the La Liga side. It marks a return to a club where Lo Celso had success last term, and finally gets a player off the books for Tottenham who they don’t want.

And taking to Twitter this morning, Fabrizio Romano has offered some small further details on the deal, adding that Spurs can interrupt the loan move in January if someone comes in with a permanent bid for the Argentine, while there will be no option for Villarreal to automatically turn the loan permanent.
For Tottenham, it marks the beginning of what they hope will be a number of departures from the club this month.
The likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks, Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon have all been told they are surplus to requirements by Antonio Conte. The quartet all have interest in them, with Ndombele said to be close to joining Napoli.
TBR’s View: Clean Break For Lo Celso And Spurs
Conte has made his stance when it comes to Lo Celso and the other Spurs players mentioned here and seeing a move to Villarreal materialise is good news all around.
The player himself needed to make the switch in what is an important World Cup year, while Tottenham need to shift players on to make room and reduce the wage bill a bit.
Lo Celso is a good midfielder on his day but there is a definite argument to suggest he is more suited to the Spanish game than England. Spurs will be hoping this loan spell goes well and they can, eventually, get a decent fee for him.
