Romano says Forster has signed two-year deal with Tottenham
Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to suggest that Fraser Forster has signed a two-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur, and the paperwork on a move has now been completed.
Forster’s arrival at Spurs has looked to be on the cards for a little while. The 34-year-old was set to become a free agent following the end of his contract at Southampton.
Reports claimed just before the campaign concluded that Tottenham wanted Forster. Pierluigi Gollini struggled to make an impact during his year on loan, and will now return to Atalanta.
Some may have wondered why the deal has not yet been announced. Tottenham have since unveiled their first signing of the window with Ivan Perisic.
But it seems that everything is still in place for Forster to join Tottenham. Romano has now confirmed on Twitter that the England international will sign a two-year contract. An announcement is imminent with all the paperwork now sorted.
Contract until June 2024 for Fraser Forster as new Tottenham goalkeeper. Two year deal agreed with Spurs to replace Gollini, Forster will be announced as second signing after Perisic in the coming days. ⚪️🤝 #THFC

Forster signed a two-year deal with Tottenham
Tottenham are doing some really clever business at the start of this window. Perisic’s arrival on a free could be absolutely inspired given the quality that he continues to possess.
And the move for Forster could be smart, too. He may not play a lot with Hugo Lloris still the number one. But he has enjoyed something of a career revival since his most recent spell at Celtic. He was labelled ‘unbelievable‘ while at Parkhead.
He did well at times during the final months of his Southampton career. And had the Saints not already agreed to keep Alex McCarthy, you would imagine that they would rather hold onto Forster.
He is not someone who is likely to play at all regularly under Antonio Conte, unless there is an injury to Lloris. But he is absolutely capable of a colossal performance. And that may be perfect for Spurs as they seek a backup for their captain.
