Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Jonathan David on Twitter amid reports that Arsenal chief Edu has already met with the striker’s agents.
David has been in superb form for Lille this season. The Canadian has 12 goals in 20 Ligue 1 games. He also has three goals in six Champions League group-stages appearances.

It appeared that his form had caught the eye of Arsenal. Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his striker options with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang not playing for the club for several weeks. The likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in the summer.
And it seems that Edu has started the ball rolling of trying to get the 22-year-old to the Emirates. The Arsenal director met with the representatives of David ahead of the January window, according to recent reports.

Romano has since provided an update. The journalist has suggested that David is planning to stay at Lille for the rest of the season. He is set to attract plenty of attention in the summer.
Romano suggested that Arsenal are in the race. However, he added that there is a long way to go before David’s future is resolved.
Jonathan David could be an inspired buy for Arsenal amid £30m price-tag reports
It was recently suggested that he could have a price-tag of £30 million. That opens the door for an inspired piece of business.
He has really kicked on this season. David is only one goal away from matching his top-flight tally for the entirety of last term. And he has proved that he can score in the Champions League.
Dusan Vlahovic looks to be the dream target for many Arsenal fans. The Serbian has been outrageously good in Serie A.
Interestingly, he has scored 16 times in 20 games. That leaves him four clear of David, which highlights how impressive the Lille star has been.
Ligue 1 may not be as tough a competition for strikers as Serie A. But Vlahovic will apparently cost more than £70 million.
David may cost less than half that amount. So it is no surprise that Arsenal are ready to put themselves in the running.
