Fabrizio Romano has told the Here We Go Podcast that Pau Torres could be an option for Arsenal this summer with many clubs interested in signing Gabriel Magalhaes.

Gabriel looks set to be a hugely important player for the Gunners this season. The Brazilian was outstanding for Mikel Arteta’s side last year. He is establishing himself as the leader of the backline at the Emirates.

But it seems that Arsenal may face a battle to keep Gabriel in the final weeks of the window. Reports previously claimed that Juventus wanted the 24-year-old. But they may not be the only team in the running.

Romano has now suggested that Juve are not alone in wanting Gabriel. The journalist also provided a suggestion on which player Arsenal will go after should they end up selling the former Lille star.

“Many, many clubs are in for Gabriel Magalhaes. It’s not going to be an easy one because Arsenal have no intention of selling him. But many clubs are tracking this deal,” he told Here We Go.

“And let’s see what happens with Arsenal for Pau Torres, in case some top club will arrive for Gabriel. He could be an option for Arsenal.”

Arsenal fans will not want to lose Gabriel. His ceiling looks to be incredibly high. He is arguably someone Arteta can build his side around in the coming years.

Torres would be an interesting target. And signing him would potentially upset some associated with their North London rivals.

Reports claimed that Tottenham had made a £43 million bid for Torres earlier in the window. Ultimately, they signed Clement Lenglet on loan, so it may be a situation that Spurs are planning to revisit at some stage.

Torres is a ‘brilliant‘ player who is less than a year older than Gabriel. So in the unlikely event that the latter does leave Arsenal, perhaps the Villarreal man would indeed be a good replacement.
