Romano asked if Leeds will be targeting Tyler Adams this summer

Fabrizio Romano has told Que Golazo that he could see Leeds United targeting Tyler Adams after the Whites ensured that they would be playing in the Premier League again next season.

Jesse Marsch’s men stayed up in remarkable fashion on the final day of the campaign. Leeds needed to better Burnley’s result to get themselves out of trouble.

And they managed it. Leeds beat Brentford, while Burnley were beaten by Newcastle. Unsurprisingly, there were some amazing scenes in the away end at Brentford as the Whites celebrated survival.

And it seems that securing safety paved the way for Leeds to push towards their first signing of the summer. Brenden Aaronson is reportedly close to moving to Elland Road with many of the terms agreed.

But perhaps Aaronson may not be the only USMNT international to join Leeds this summer. Adams worked with Marsch at New York Red Bulls as well as RB Leipzig.

The 23-year-old is predominantly a holding midfielder, who can play out wide. And when asked if there was a possibility of Adams moving to Leeds, Romano certainly hinted that it is a link to keep an eye on.

“Why not, his relationship with Marsch is great. At the moment, there are no negotiations between the two clubs. But we know that the relationship is great and it could be a really interesting opportunity,” he told Que Golazo.

“For sure, Leeds need to understand now what they want to do with Phillips because it’s a really important point. Lots of top clubs have his name on their list so let’s see what will happen with Phillips and then we’ll understand if they will jump into this Tyler Adams opportunity or not.”

Leeds targeting Tyler Adams

Adams would be a fantastic signing for Leeds if a deal is possible. The Whites absolutely need more quality in the middle of the park. And the American would provide that.

He is a player whose mentality has been compared with Gareth Bale by Bradley Wright-Phillips. Marsch meanwhile, backed Adams to become a ‘massive‘ player in the future.

So it would be something if Leeds could bring him to Elland Road. Plenty of supporters will be hoping that there is indeed interest in signing him in the coming months.
