Report: Club furious with Paratici as Tottenham dither over transfer due to injury concerns

Italian giants Roma are said to be fuming with Tottenham and Fabio Paratici over their low offer for star player, Nicolo Zaniolo.

It’s emerged over recent weeks that Tottenham are keen on signing Zaniolo, with Roma wanting to get good money for their man if they agree to sell. That good money is thought to be over £40m. However, according to 90Min, Tottenham have only offered to take Zaniolo on loan with an option to buy for around £22m, with further £8m coming in add-ons down the line.

And 90Min claims this approach has more than annoyed the Rome club. It’s suggested that Roma had been open to a loan to buy deal being agreed on. However, the fee Tottenham have come in with has been taken as somewhat insulting by the Italian club.

For Spurs, it’s claimed in the same report that the reason for the low offer is there are concerns from the North London side over Zaniolo’s general fitness. Tottenham are said to be worried about his two ACL operations, which is why there is a reluctance to over pay as things stand.

Fabio Paratici is said to be wanting to do more deals before August is out. This, despite spending more than £100m this summer.

TBR’s View: Tottenham Right To Be Concerned Over Zaniolo

It’s alright spending big money on players but Tottenham have every right to hold reservations when it comes to Nicolo Zaniolo. After all, it’s not like the injuries mentioned are just knocks.

Roma, of course, will know the player well and they have a right to be annoyed as well. But if Spurs are going to splash big money here, they need to be sure what they’re getting.

Zaniolo is a top player. But if you can’t get fit or can’t stand up to the tough nature of the PL, then it makes little difference.
