Report: Liverpool have ‘fitness concern’ over player Carragher loves, ahead of Everton clash

Liverpool head into tomorrow’s Merseyside derby with Everton looking to pick up another win and keep the pressure on Manchester City at the summit of the table.

City won 5-1 against Watford today to further enhance their own credentials as being Premier League champions. But Liverpool are still firmly in the mix and are in fine form themselves heading into the clash with Frank Lampard’s side.

Everton will, of course, be desperate to be the team to upset the Liverpool apple cart. Lampard will no doubt be telling his players this is a free hit, with everyone in football expecting Liverpool to win comfortably.

One big bonus for Everton – and a blow for Liverpool – could be the fitness of Roberto Firmino. According to the Reds’ official website, Firmino is the only ‘fitness concern’ for Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool boss has hinted Firmino could play some part, but his fitness will be a worry.

Of course, Liverpool are not short of options in attack. The likes of Salah, Diaz and Mane are all playing well, while Diogo Jota is also doing good things. Firmino’s experience, though, could be a big factor against the Toffees.

TBR’s View: Firmino Needed For Liverpool In The Big Games

As well as being an excellent player, Firmino brings the experience that can sometimes be needed in such big games as these. Everton will try and make life difficult for the Reds, and Firmino’s footballing acumen could help tomorrow.

The Brazilian is a class act when he wants to be. Jamie Carragher loves him, singing his praises just a few weeks back as the club celebrated the striker’s Liverpool career.

Liverpool will still likely beat Everton without the ‘unbelievable‘ Firmino. But Klopp will want his best attacking players available, and if Firmino is fit, then it’s a timely boost.
